On April 21, Rehmann Group of Cheboygan won a night-sky friendly lighting award, named after Mackinaw City conservationist, Gary R. Williams. This financial and investment consulting firm was nominated by Straits Area Audubon Society. Principal Annette Eustice accepted the award from Kathy Bricker of the Outdoor Lighting Forum, dedicated to reversing light pollution that causes glare and wastes light and electricity. Said Eustice, 'we are especially proud of our parking lot lights, which were reclaimed and refurbished lights that McDonald's no longer wanted." The Outdoor Lighting Forum educates designers, architects, planners, and the public about outdoor lighting and how to preserve the dark night sky.
